UiPath (PATH) has captured the attention of investors with a remarkable 25.5% rise in stock price since July 31, closing at $16.01 on Friday. This surge marks a significant milestone for the company, as its stock has now surpassed the price targets set by major analysts, including UBS, BMO Capital, DA Davidson, and Bank of America.
This impressive rally was fueled by UiPath’s Q1 FY2027 financial results, which revealed a year-over-year revenue increase of 17%, amounting to $418 million. The company also reported its first profitable quarter under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with an operating income of $28 million. Additionally, annual recurring revenue (ARR) rose by 12%, reaching $1.901 billion, while net new ARR climbed to $49 million, a substantial increase from $27 million during the same period last year.
In a statement highlighting the company’s growth trajectory, CEO Daniel Dines emphasized that their “agentic products are moving from pilot to production,” positioning AI-driven automation as a central pillar of their expansion strategy.
Wall Street’s Cautious Stance
Despite this surge in stock price, Wall Street analysts have remained cautious. The consensus rating among 16 analysts remains Neutral, with a price target of $13.25, suggesting a potential decline of about 17% from the recent closing price. UBS maintains a Hold rating with a target of $12, while BMO Capital and DA Davidson also hold at a $12 to $13 price range. Bank of America has issued a Sell rating with a $13 target.
Currently, PATH trades 34.5% above its 50-day moving average and 25.7% over its 200-day average, with a 52-week high set at $19.84, indicating it is about 19% below that peak. Notably, the stock experienced its largest single-day increase on Thursday, jumping 9.3% to $16.68 before a slight pullback on Friday. Trading volume reached approximately 52.1 million shares, lower than the three-month average of 64.4 million.
Looking Ahead: Q2 Guidance
As UiPath looks forward, the Q2 FY2027 guidance has indicated a potential step back, projecting revenue between $395 million and $400 million, with a midpoint of $397.5 million reflecting a 4.9% decline from Q1 but a 9.8% increase compared to Q2 of the previous year. The expected non-GAAP operating income for Q2 is estimated to be $75 million, down from $92 million in Q1.
Despite these potential hurdles, ARR is anticipated to reach $1.932 billion by the end of Q2, representing a 1.6% sequential increase. The company’s strong gross margins provide flexibility to continue investing in AI development and sales without incurring debt.
However, there are concerns regarding customer retention, particularly among smaller clients. A significant portion of customer losses has been noted in this segment, raising questions about the sustainability of net new ARR growth moving forward.
On a related note, Chief Accounting Officer Hitesh Ramani sold 50,000 shares of PATH on Thursday and Friday for approximately $831,250 under a pre-scheduled Rule 10b5-1 plan. He continues to hold 235,052 shares directly.
UiPath is set to release its next earnings report on September 3, after market close, which will be closely monitored by investors and analysts alike.
