Bitcoin Faces Pressure Below $63,000 Amidst Mixed Market Signals

Bitcoin (BTC) is struggling to maintain its position below $63,000, trading at $62,570 on Friday, August 14, 2026, marking a decline of approximately 1.3% for the day. This price point is alarmingly near its lowest levels recorded this month.

The recent drop in Bitcoin’s price comes despite favorable US inflation data that has propelled the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to all-time highs. The ongoing disconnect between traditional markets and cryptocurrency has left investors questioning Bitcoin’s resilience.

Trader and analyst Rekt Capital has issued a cautionary note on social media, highlighting that Bitcoin must close the week above $63,220 to avoid triggering a deeper sell-off. He observed that the previously supportive $63,000 level is now failing, with the 50-month EMA at $65,827 reverting to a resistance level reminiscent of the 2022 bear market conditions.

Another analyst, Daan Crypto Trades, echoed similar sentiments, noting that Bitcoin has consistently struggled to break above the $65,000 mark. Despite the stock market reaching new heights, he continues to accumulate Bitcoin gradually, maintaining the belief that it will ultimately reach $200,000, while expressing skepticism that it would fall significantly below $40,000.

Meanwhile, Ted, another market analyst, pointed to Bitcoin’s daily MACD indicator flipping bearish, stressing the importance of holding the $62,000 to $62,500 range to prevent a more severe downturn.

    SEC’s Delay Affects Market Sentiment

The market’s trajectory is also being influenced by the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) recent decision to postpone its planned “innovation exemption” for tokenized securities. This sudden delay, which came just before a scheduled meeting, has raised concerns over the proposal’s legal implications and potential market effects, particularly as congressional discussions continue regarding the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.

As a result of these developments, Bitcoin is poised for a weekly loss exceeding 3%, a stark contrast to the bullish momentum seen in equity markets.

Corporate Bitcoin Sales Weigh on Prices

In a further blow to market confidence, Strategy, the world’s leading corporate Bitcoin holder, disclosed a sale of 1,690 BTC, netting approximately $108.6 million. Onchain analytics firm Glassnode highlighted that traders have taken on substantial long positions in a market that currently lacks equivalent demand, increasing the risk of a long liquidation event as Bitcoin approaches the $61,000 threshold.

Additionally, trading firm QCP Capital pointed out that the softer inflation data has elicited only a muted response from the crypto markets. Market participants are now closely monitoring the upcoming PCE inflation index release on August 26, which is the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation and could significantly influence market trends.

As Bitcoin navigates these turbulent waters, analysts and traders alike will be watching closely for signs of recovery or further declines, underscoring the ongoing volatility within the cryptocurrency landscape.
