Zcash developers have recently unveiled Zakura Common, an innovative open-source cryptography toolkit that dramatically accelerates the creation of private transactions on the Zcash network. This technological leap has led to a notable 5% increase in the price of ZEC, which now hovers around $839 following the announcement.
The launch of Zakura Common promises to reduce the time required for private transaction creation from over three seconds to under 200 milliseconds. This enhancement means that mobile proof generation is now more than 14 times faster, while desktop platforms have experienced a fivefold increase in performance. Furthermore, the speed of Sinsemilla hashing—integral to Zcash’s Orchard protocol—has surged by 21 times, and zk-SNARK verification, the backbone of Zcash’s privacy features, operates four to eight times quicker than before.
The development team behind Zakura Common, co-founded by Sean Bowe, a veteran in zero-knowledge cryptography, has meticulously crafted the library to ensure that wallet developers can integrate it without any required upgrades to the Zcash protocol. This means users can begin benefiting from these improvements immediately, with no need for a network-wide update or hard fork.
Notably, Zakura v1.3.0 is already equipped with this new stack, and Vizor Wallet is among the first to implement these advancements. Wallets utilizing Zakura Common will not only see enhanced transaction speeds but also improved synchronization and a reduction in the occurrence of orphaned blocks.
Market analysts have been closely monitoring ZEC’s price movements, especially following the Zakura Common release. Analyst seth_fin highlighted a “nice breakout after ETF news,” projecting that ZEC could be on its way to $1000 as momentum builds around the token. However, despite the positive surge, prices did witness a slight pullback on Monday morning amidst broader market trends.
As Zcash continues to innovate, the Zakura Common release is part of a larger initiative known as Project Tachyon, which aims to scale Zcash to handle over 50,000 private transactions per second—comparable to major credit card networks. This ambitious project is now fully operational on the new cryptographic stack.
At the time of writing, ZEC is trading near $839, reflecting a robust 5% increase prior to the recent market dip. With the enhancements brought about by Zakura Common, the future looks promising for Zcash as it strives to maintain its position in the competitive cryptocurrency landscape.
